It took about 5 minutes in Lieve Prins’s workshop for me to change my perception on scanning and the art that can be made with them. The depth in color, the blurry effects and light seeping through into the copy makes it that the scanner has its own special niche in the art scene. It’s a rising art form popular by contemporary artists.

It can get quite hectic at the end of the catwalk when you’re battling an increasingly growing group of fashion photographers hungry for the sweet taste of recognition. Sending out spotters, pushing, grabbing and blocking your opportunities from the second you step in the door to the moment you walk out.

Although a photography workshop by nature we will be looking a little bit further than just the camera this weekend. Lieve Prins will show us the amazing possibilities of the photocopier, layer after layer building up an artwork. The total outlook of what started out life as a completely different object, form or picture can be manipulated using photocopiers.
