Tip from Eddy van Wessel...

Don't use a zoom lens! you have legs and you should always go closer then you dare to. A wide angle lens is much more direct then a ('much safer') telephoto lens. Fuck the rules concerning light and horizon, throw away the rules, do your own thing. Take your time, being interested is the best introduction. Choose the pictures with your mind, not after taking them when you are watching on the screen of your camera. Don't make to many pictures! keep your overview.

Biography

Eddy van Wessel (The Netherlands, 1965) started as a commercial photographer using large format camera's.
Converted himself into a documentary photographer, capturing life on the edge in al aspects. Real moments, real images that reflect the emotions of the photographer at that moment, taking a very personal and sometimes bizar point of view. Eddy van Wessel workes with international magazines like Stern, Paris Match, LeMonde2 and The Washington Post Magazine. He was 2 times photographer of the year in 1996 and 2004 with stories from
